The Eastern Flyway Hunting and Retriever Club is the only CKC registered retriever club in Nova Scotia. Through a small dedicated group of volunteers, the club holds two annual CKC sanctioned hunt tests each year (JH, SH, MH), along with a one-day working dog certificate test (WC). Along with the tests, the club organizes some hunting outings and holds regular group training set-ups in the spring and summer months.
The club has access to first-rate training grounds located in Brooklyn (near Windsor) and Milford areas (near Enfield).The group consists of an array of dog enthusiasts: from avid hunters who require trained gun-dogs, conformation handlers and breeders who want to retain a retriever’s hunting pedigree, to knowledgeable long-time breeders and trainers, and to those who just enjoy training their dog to a high-level and being outdoors with friends and pets alike. We also have a member who serves as the club’s VP and is one of a only a few individuals in the province to run retriever field trials. In other words, we have a great mix of people running dogs for different reasons but everyone has the same goal of having fun at it and learning from one another.
